08 Apr Take care of your heart
We have been teaching on matters of the heart. This is a pivotal area of spiritual health, and overall wellbeing.
I want to emphasize another aspect of the heart. The entry point to your heart is through your eye gate and ear gate. This simply means being careful about what you allow into your heart by what you are listening to and what you are viewing as it impacts on the health of your soul heart. Jesus put it succinctly in the following verses “Then Jesus turned to the crowd and said, “Come, listen and open your heart to understand. What truly contaminates a person is not what he puts into his mouth but what comes out of his mouth. That’s what makes people defiled.” (Matthew 15:10-11).
The other entry point to your soul heart, are your eyes. When you repeatedly look at something sinful over and over again, it will be imprinted in your heart. Similarly when you keep looking at the word of God continually, it will also set in your heart. The words of scripture in your heart is health to your whole being.
Practice renewing your mind by allowing the words of scripture to influence your thinking and different areas of your life. As an example, when it comes to a marriage, treating your relationship and your spouse the way God says it ought to be done and not according to your culture or tradition, shows that your mind is renewed to God’s ways as far as relationships. This can also be applied to other areas of your life.
When you renew your mind you are renewing your soul. You bring your soul into agreement with what is already in your spirit heart because the Bible says that “the fullness of God dwells in us and we are complete in Him”. Remember that renewing your mind is not a one-time event but a process that continues throughout your spiritual life. This is what personally helps me in ensuring optimum health in my heart and in all I do.
I would like to leave these words with you “But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
God is interested in your heart, the motivation of your heart in everything you do, and ensuring that you take care of your heart.
Remember Jesus Loves You and There Is Nothing You Can Do About It!
