Your Battle Position

October 2019

I have shared several lessons from the life of David that speak profoundly to us today. David was very aware throughout his many battles that his strength and ability to prevail in every battle was from God. This is what the word says “It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places. He teaches my hands to make war, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. ( Psalm 18:32-34)

God is the One who gives us instructions on how to war. Whether the battle is in the mind or an enem attact on an area of your life, there is a battle position for you as a child of God. But, a working knowledge of the word of God and His principles will enable you to claim the victory that you have in Jesus.

When Jesus died on the cross, the curtain in the temple was torn from top to bottom – a supernatural occurrence. This opened the curtain that covered the holy of holies. The Spirit of God does not dwell in the temple anymore but in the hearts of men and women who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour. You came into a new covenant; the law was done away and you are in a new day. In the new and better covenant with God, which is superior and higher than what David and the old testament saints operated on, you have 24/7 access to the presence of your God.

The times we live in are changing rapidly, think of our computers from Windows ’99 to the Windows 11 of today! The spiritual analogy is the old covenant -where the Spirit of God did not indwell the hearts of men, it was the High Priest who went on behalf of the people to God. But in the new covenant that you have in Christ, the operating system has changed and therefore knowledge of the new operating system will enable you to live victoriously in Christ.

In covenant, you are to approach God’s throne boldly and confidently; this also means you have freedom of speech before your God. Your battle position is this “more than a conqueror”. This is because Jesus your High Priest has already gone to battle and defeated satan on your behalf. Your role is to enforce the victory that Jesus died to give you in the abundant, overflowing and joyful life. The only fight or battle you are encouraged to fight in the Bible is the fight of faith. The Bible calls the fight you are in ‘a good fight’. A fight is good when you win, that’s because you have already won the victory and you are to approach any attack or onslaught of the enemy from a position of victory boldly.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,…” ( Ephesians 6:10-13)

This is your battle position:

Recognise that your strength comes from the Lord and not in yourself.
Jesus has given you authority, the right and privilege of His Name which is the Name above all names, the name that defeated Satan at Calvary to enforce the victory He died to give you. Remember there is no verse in the scriptures that says you are to FIGHT the devil!
Your stance in the new covenant is to resist Satan and STAND your ground.
Remember Jesus loves you and there is nothing you can do about it.
