Pastors Kofi and Jayne both come from Ghana, West Africa, but their paths crossed here in London back in 1985. They met while studying at Bible College and attending the same church in North-West London. Friendship soon blossomed into love, and they got married two years later. Today, they’re the proud parents of two daughters, Siobhan and Sinead.
Before starting Praise Christian Centre, Pastor Kofi served for several years as an Associate Pastor at a large charismatic church in London. People quickly recognised his gift for teaching and preaching, and he became known for helping others connect deeply with Jesus through the Word.
In 1993, after some powerful spiritual experiences, Pastor Kofi felt Jesus was calling him into something new. So, in August that year, he stepped away from his role, choosing to trust Jesus for what lay ahead.
Around the same time, while ministering in Glasgow, he had a vivid vision of a large hospital where he was the Senior Medical Officer—a place symbolising healing and care. A few days later, he sensed Jesus asking him to build an oasis—a place where people could find relief, hope, and a fresh start. One verse kept ringing in his heart:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” — Hosea 4:6
With that vision in mind, Praise Christian Centre was born. It all started with a simple Bible study on Thursday, 16th September 1993, and just days later, our first Sunday service on 19th September in Finchley.
Since then, Praise Christian Centre has been all about helping people know Jesus personally, experience healing, and discover hope and purpose for their lives. We’re grateful for where we’ve come from—and excited for all that’s still ahead.
